Product Description

Product Introduction

γ-aminobutyric acid is a chemical compound with the chemical formula C₄H₉NO₂, also known as 4-aminobutyric acid (γ-aminobutyric acid, abbreviated as GABA), is a Food Additive amino acid, widely found in vertebrates, plants and microorganisms. γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an important Natural Food Colorants and central nervous system inhibitory neurotransmitter with good water solubility and thermal stability. GABA, as a small molecular weight non-protein amino acid, has been shown to be safe for food and can be used as a food additive for the production of beverages and Nutrient Supplements. Studies have shown that a certain amount of GABA intake has physiological effects such as improving sleep quality and lowering blood pressure.

The amount of addition is recommended

Although the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) allows GABA to be added to foods, and stipulates that the upper dietary intake of GABA is 550mg/d, its main functional properties still need to be supported by rigorous population test results. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that GABA is safe for use in beverages, coffee, tea and chewing gum based on toxicological test results, but it is not allowed to be added to baby food, meat products or meat-containing products. Announcement No. 12 of 2009 of the Ministry of Health of China states that the intake of GABA shall not exceed 500mg/d, and the scope of use shall be beverages, cocoa products, chocolate and its beverages, candy, baked goods and puffed foods, but it shall not be added to baby food.

γ-aminobutyric acid, also known as γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), is an amino acid with a chemical formula of H2NCH2CH2CH2COOH and a molecular weight of 103.1. GABA is a white crystalline powder with no optical rotation. [2] Melting point 195-204 °C (decomposition) [3-4], miscible with water, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in benzene and ether, when decomposed, it will lose water to form pyrrolidone.
GABA often exists in the form of zwitterionic (negatively charged carboxyl group and positively charged amino group) in solution, due to the electrostatic interaction between positive and negative charge groups, GABA can have both gaseous (folded) and solid (extended) molecular conformations in solution, while GABA can coexist in the form of multimolecular conformation in solution, so that it can bind to a variety of receptor proteins and play a variety of important physiological functions.
